Tabula Rasa Dance Company has been slowly drifting northwards since its beginnings in Edinburgh in 1999, via the Highlands to the Orkney Isles where it is currently based. We bring artists together to collaborate on the creation of dance performances and then reach out to audiences through a touring programme. Tabula Rasa has been fortunate over the years in receiving support from the Scottish Arts Council, National Lottery, Hi-Arts, and a variety of Trusts and Foundations including The Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, The Gulbenkian Foundation and the PRS Foundation. The company is led artistically by Claire Pençak and guided by a Board of Directors. The style of our work is forged out of collaborations with artists from a variety of disciplines. Whilst it is always driven by choreographic concerns, the outcome may be pure expressive dance or dance that crosses into the territory of theatre, or towards installation based performance. We begin with ‘tabula rasa’ – a clean slate – in order to find fresh creative solutions. |
